URGENT: CLICK TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE LEFT!
(DC Pundit) – Just when Democrats thought their favorite far-left firebrand could keep skating past accountability, another round of questions about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s past has landed with a thud. The Minnesota congresswoman now faces fresh scrutiny over her official birth year and how she secured U.S. citizenship.
According to records highlighted by the New York Post, Omar’s staff arranged to change her listed birth year from 1981 to 1982 in May 2019. That request came months after she won her first congressional race in November 2018. For years the date October 4, 1981 appeared in the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library, on Wikipedia, and in outlets including the BBC. It stayed on the books through her time in the state House and the early months of her Capitol Hill career. Then, shortly after a political opponent’s video questioning her age went viral, her team contacted the library and asked for the year to be switched to 1982.
The library itself noted that the original 1981 listing had been entered because it was “widely available, in Wikipedia and the Biographical Directory, and so we added that birthdate without documentation.” Convenient timing, to say the least.

That one-year difference is not a trivial calendar tweak. Federal immigration rules at the time required that conditions for derivative citizenship be met before a child turned 18. Omar has long maintained she gained citizenship through her father when he naturalized in 2000. If she was born in 1981, she would have been 18 or 19 that year, potentially locking her out of the automatic minor pathway and forcing her through the adult naturalization process.
The stakes rose sharply this week. Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Omar’s Washington, D.C.-area home early Monday, carting away boxes of evidence. The probe centers on those childhood immigration documents and whether false statements were made that could open the door to denaturalization proceedings.
For Republicans who have watched Omar lecture the country on borders while questions about her own status linger, the development feels like long-overdue sunlight. Under President Trump’s administration, federal investigators are finally treating these discrepancies with the seriousness they deserve. Rank-and-file conservatives have argued for years that no one is above the law—not even a progressive darling who built a career criticizing the very system that gave her a platform.
