(DC Pundit) – Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Monday began with Homeland Security agents at her door, and she’s already telling the world it’s all a setup.
HSI agents executed a search warrant at the far-left Minnesota Democrat’s Washington-area home early Monday and reportedly spent almost six hours there. News footage shows agents carrying boxes out of the residence, loading them into a van. The Justice Department confirmed the operation as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation and offered no other details. Fox News reports the probe centers on Omar’s immigration paperwork.

Border czar Tom Homan confirmed the raid, reportedly adding that the investigation had been “ongoing for a while.” He put the probe on the record last month too, calling it an ongoing “criminal” investigation.

For years, Omar has dodged credible reports claiming she married her own brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 to secure his immigration status. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told conservative host Benny Johnson last month that she did exactly that and could be deported.
Omar wasted no time firing back on X. “I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” Omar said.
“I will not be silenced,” she said.

“Baseless” is a bold word for an operation a judge signed off on. Then again, it’s hard to imagine a congresswoman reading from any other script.
Investigators haven’t said publicly what they were looking for. But with the midterms less than a month away, voters in Minnesota’s 5th District are about to get an education in how federal investigations work.
