(DC Pundit) – The Seattle Storm have a problem, and it has nothing to do with their record on the court.
On Tuesday, two teenage girls showed up to a Storm game wearing XX-XY Athletics T-shirts, a brand that advocates for protecting women’s sports from biological male competitors, and carried a sign thanking Storm player Sophie Cunningham for publicly speaking out in support of female athletes. By any reasonable measure, two young girls attending a women’s basketball game to support a player who stands up for women in sports should be a wholesome, uncomplicated story.
Instead, according to reports, lesbian co-owner Celeste Keaton allegedly mocked and berated the girls, making insulting gestures directed at them. The teens were reportedly left in tears.
Last night, @seattlestorm co-owner Celeste Keaton cursed out two teen girls for wearing @xx_xyathletics shirts, calling them "f*cking insane." One of them was left in tears. I tried to get security involved and was told I should email the front office. pic.twitter.com/Qi8TcfRtYB

Keaton was not the only one. An unidentified man at the game also allegedly confronted the girls, calling on security to “take the trash out” — referring to two teenage girls whose only offense was wearing a T-shirt that acknowledges basic biology.
Footage obtained by @FoxNews shows the young Sophie Cunningham fans also face a confrontation with a grown man and a woman with him. The man shouted "take the trash out" to arena staff, in reference to the girls and the other supporters with them. https://t.co/0jaSjUmMbn pic.twitter.com/MjwfUyHmb4

The Storm organization later issued an apology, though the ownership has not made any public statements addressing the co-owner’s alleged behavior directly.
The Seattle Storm have apologized for the conduct of a co-owner toward to young girls who were supporting Sophie Cunningham on Tuesday night. But footage and testimony shows a further storm of chaos the two girls endured that the team has not addressed. https://t.co/tb7nvpZLJs

Last night, my wife and I went to our first WNBA game in Seattle to watch the Storm take on the Fever. It was definitely a different experience, but we ultimately had a good time. Let me tell you why it felt different. For a lot of the people in attendance, it didn’t seem like it… pic.twitter.com/Z0r6ehIKkk

The irony here is almost too much to process. The co-owner of a women’s professional basketball team apparently has no interest in protecting the integrity of the women’s sports that her own franchise represents. The girls holding that sign understand something Celeste Keaton doesn’t.
