(DC Pundit) – Has anyone else noticed that our so-called elite universities keep churning out graduates who cannot define the very ideologies they claim to support? A Fox News Digital reporter recently walked the University of Michigan campus asking students to define socialism, and the responses were about as sharp as a butter knife.
One student declared, “Socialism doesn’t mean like anti-capitalism. Based off what I learned in my Gov class, it’s basically like spending more money on helping society.”
Another offered this gem: “Socialism to me is a concept in politics where everybody gets a little bit of everything. Everybody benefits and everybody is really taking care of kind of that social net that you see in other types of politics.”
That is not socialism. Actual socialism involves collective or state ownership of the means of production—factories, farms, energy, and industry. History is littered with the results: empty shelves in the Soviet Union, bread lines in Venezuela, and millions of lives lost under systems that promised equality and delivered misery.
WILD: University of Michigan students PROVE just how STUPID and BRAINWASHED they truly are when they were asked to define what socialism is, while a Fox poll shows nearly half of young Americans still view it favorably.

A recent Fox News poll found nearly half of young Americans still view socialism favorably. Watching these Michigan students struggle on camera shows why. Colleges are not teaching the difference between charity and coercion. They are selling a soft, feel-good version of an ideology that has failed every time it has been tried at scale. The left counts on that confusion. If students understood that socialism means politicians deciding who gets what and how much, the enthusiasm would evaporate faster than a Venezuelan paycheck.
This is not about compassion. Americans already fund massive programs for the vulnerable. The question is whether we hand the entire economy to the same political class that cannot balance a budget or secure a border. President Trump has spent years warning about this exact drift. The kids being trained to cheer it on are the ones who will inherit the wreckage if the adults keep looking the other way. Colleges are failing the students who pay them. The rest of the country does not have to join the experiment.
