(DC Pundit) – Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is catching serious heat from conservatives and immigration enforcement advocates after publicly announcing that ICE will not be conducting worksite operations targeting illegal aliens in Kansas. The announcement landed like a grenade in MAGA circles, and for good reason.
The declaration came with suspiciously convenient timing, arriving right on the heels of coordinated pressure campaigns from major agricultural and livestock industry lobbies in the region. Funny how that works.
NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley broke the story, posting on X: “NEW: DHS says @ICEgov is not arresting illegal immigrants at worksites in Kansas.”

Mullin followed up on X himself, writing that “ICE is not conducting worksite operations in Kansas,” and explained that agents have instead “conducted operations targeting heinous criminals including murderers, rapists, and drug traffickers and illegal aliens with final orders of removal.”

So worksites are apparently a safe zone now. Good to know.
The Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Kansas Livestock Association, and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association joined forces to issue a coordinated statement pushing back against federal worksite enforcement, arguing that ICE presence creates a “chilling effect” on their workforce and warning of potential beef price increases if operations continue. Local reports from KCUR News indicated that several meatpacking facilities in southwest Kansas temporarily closed or experienced severe worker shortages as agents carried out fugitive operations nearby.
Kansas Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall both reached out to Mullin directly. Moran said the secretary assured him that arrest warrants were targeting individuals charged with criminal activity.
The conservative base wasn’t buying it. Commentator Nick Sortor posted bluntly: “So worksites are now safe zones for illegals in Kansas? Lmao.” He later added: “DHS Secretary Mullin has declared ‘worksites’ in Kansas are OFF-LIMITS to ICE. So basically, Mullin has granted amnesty to any illegal shittily building houses in America’s heartland. This is NOT what 80 MILLION Americans voted for!”

The replies to Mullin’s own post were equally unsparing. One user wrote, “In other words. Ice only detains a few illegals. Backing down on what Americans actually wants, which is our country back.” Gina Milan was direct: “So you’re avoiding worksites now that have illegals? We didn’t vote for this crap, by the way. We voted for mass deportations.” Shannon added simply, “We voted for ALL OF THEM TO BE DEPORTED.” BeraMoose put it plainly: “We voted for ALL illegals to be deported, not just the ones that committed additional crimes. ICE needs to start worksite raids too. They don’t get a pass!”
Others pointed out the obvious: if businesses are shutting down over ICE activity nearby, those businesses are almost certainly employing illegal labor. More than one commenter suggested arresting the business owners and shutting the operations down entirely.
President Trump won on a promise of mass deportations and border security. Carving out exemptions for industries that have spent years benefiting from cheap illegal labor is not what millions of voters had in mind.
