(DC Pundit) – Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst has uncovered what appears to be a deliberate effort by Biden administration officials to conceal taxpayer-funded COVID relief loans to Planned Parenthood. And, they allegedly did it using a rather eyebrow-raising codeword: “Benghazi.”
Ernst posted a thread on social media this week revealing internal Small Business Administration emails from 2021 showing agency officials using the term as apparent cover for discussions about Planned Parenthood. In one exchange, the SBA’s senior attorney messaged the agency’s chief of staff requesting a meeting on “Benghazi (Planned Parenthood).” The chief of staff responded simply, “Yes, let’s talk Benghazi.”
For those who need a refresher, Benghazi is a city in Libya, site of the devastating 2012 Islamic terror attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. It was also the subject of years of congressional investigations into Hillary Clinton’s handling of the crisis as Secretary of State. Using it as a secret code for Planned Parenthood discussions is either spectacularly tone-deaf or deliberately calculated to evade detection. Possibly both.
Ernst said she has asked the Justice Department to examine the codeword as a potential case of record concealment, which would be a violation of federal law. “If code words were used to evade congressional oversight into $90+ million in COVID-era loans to a top Biden political ally, there must be accountability!” she stated.

The SBA ultimately handed Planned Parenthood $90 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans, funds that were supposed to help small businesses keep employees on payroll during COVID shutdowns. Planned Parenthood, which performed a record 434,000 abortions between 2023 and 2024, is many things, but a struggling small business is not one of them.
Current SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler is now pushing back hard. She sent letters to 38 Planned Parenthood affiliates demanding documentation proving their eligibility for the funds and made her position unmistakably clear: “Six years later, the Trump SBA holds the same conviction: Planned Parenthood Federation of America was never eligible to receive a dime in pandemic-era relief from taxpayers.”
Loeffler added: “Not only will we expose the Planned Parenthood affiliates who took advantage of the American people, we will take every necessary step to force every bad actor to pay them back.”
It’s about time someone did.
