(DC Pundit) – Progressive Democrat Abdul El-Sayed has defeated Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race. El-Sayed will be the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate. In Texas, far-left Senate candidate James Talarico beat GOP candidate Ken Paxton. Those are not marginal losses. They are clear victories for the progressive left in states Republicans should have won.
President Trump had warned his supporters for months that this exact outcome was possible. Throughout the midterm campaign he repeatedly told them to treat the election as if his name were on the ballot. In October he made the point explicitly, telling supporters to imagine they were voting for him even though he was not running. He argued that Republican turnout rises substantially when he appears on the ballot and urged his voters to show up for every GOP candidate. In the final weeks he crisscrossed the country, holding rallies and warning that Democrats could not be allowed to seize control of Congress. On Tuesday that warning became reality.
A Democratic-controlled House gains the power to launch congressional investigations, issue subpoenas, and obstruct large portions of the president’s domestic agenda for the second half of his term. The next two years just became significantly harder for anyone who wants border security, energy dominance, or an end to the regulatory state.
Elon Musk mused that “data centers in space” were looking appealing after Democrats scored historic gains in Texas and other races. Voters had turned the costs and consequences of AI expansion into a midterm issue, and the left cashed in.

No matter what you think about high gas prices, grocery prices, or the job market, the bottom line is clear: conservatives did not turn out in the numbers they needed to. Republicans lost ground because too many of their voters stayed home. The progressive left showed up. The results speak for themselves. We cannot give up. The fight for this country is far from over.
