(DC Pundit) – An illegal alien from Sierra Leone is now facing a mountain of serious charges after authorities say he kidnapped a 15-year-old girl in Maryland, a sanctuary state, and tried to kill her. The suspect is 23-year-old Abubakarr Barrie.
On October 22nd, shortly after 8 p.m., Barrie offered the girl a ride. Instead of taking her where she asked, he drove her to the basement apartment he was renting in Baltimore. Inside the car, according to charging documents, he turned violent, wrapping his arm around her head and neck before ordering her into the residence.
Once inside, authorities say Barrie stabbed the girl multiple times and tore off her clothes. She fought back hard. “She began scratching and clawing at Mr. Barrie’s body, in an effort to flee, ultimately finding a fire extinguisher in the room, picked it up and began hitting Mr. Barrie with it, finally able to get away from him stabbing her and fled the home on foot with no shoes or clothes on,” the charging documents state.

Police found the teenager roughly half an hour later, several blocks away, suffering multiple stab wounds and a collapsed lung. Barrie was arrested and hit with nine charges, including kidnapping and first-degree attempted murder. An ICE detainer has been lodged against him.
The owner of a Baltimore home at the center of an investigation into the alleged kidnapping and stabbing of a 15-year-old girl is sharing new surveillance video with FOX45 News from the night of the alleged attack.

This is not Barrie’s first brush with the system. He entered the United States illegally through Arizona in 2023 and was released into the country during the open-border years of the Biden administration. In July he was arrested in New York City for possession of a forged instrument. New York authorities ignored the ICE detainer and cut him loose.
Sanctuary policies and catch-and-release practices keep producing the same predictable results. A young girl ends up fighting for her life with a fire extinguisher while an illegal entrant who should have been removed walks free until the next crime. Maryland’s sanctuary stance and New York’s decision to disregard the detainer are not abstract policy debates. They are the reason this suspect was still on the street.
Americans have watched this pattern for years: illegal entry, release, another arrest, another ignored detainer, another victim. The only people surprised are the ones who spent years insisting the border crisis was a right-wing talking point. The rest of the country has been living with the consequences.
