(DC Pundit) – Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey who somehow transitioned from RINO firebrand to ABC News contributor, is apparently entertaining the idea of a third presidential run in 2028. Third time’s the charm, right?
Christie built his early reputation as a tough-talking Republican who didn’t flinch when liberal journalists came at him. That was then. These days, he’s cashing checks from the mainstream media establishment he once pretended to fight. The transformation is complete.
So who, exactly, does Christie think is lining up to vote for him? That’s the million-dollar question, and nobody seems to have a good answer, including Christie himself.
“Once you go through the thought process of convincing yourself that you can be president, and then the next step that you should be president, that doesn’t leave your brain,” Christie said.
He also told his wife what may be the most optimistic pitch in modern political history: “I know you may not believe this, but third time is the charm.” To her credit, she reportedly told him to show her the path first. Smart woman.
Here’s a newsflash for the former governor: there is no path.

The Republican Party of 2028 will not look kindly on someone who spent years positioning himself as the anti-Trump voice while cozying up to the very media outlets conservatives distrust. The base has a long memory, and Christie’s track record of carrying water for the left’s preferred narratives hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Two failed presidential campaigns have a way of sending a message. Christie ran in 2016, dropped out before New Hampshire voters could fully deliver their verdict, and then tried again in 2024 with even less traction. The electorate has changed, the party has changed, and the grassroots energy that drives Republican primaries is simply not with someone like Christie.
The MAGA movement didn’t just reshape the GOP, it redefined what Republican voters expect from their candidates. Loyalty, spine, and a willingness to fight the establishment are now table stakes. Christie offers none of the above.
If he does run again, he’ll be welcomed warmly, by CNN green rooms and MSNBC panels. Republican primary voters? That’s a different story entirely.
