On paper, it sounded like the kind of program many Americans would support. In reality, Ernst says what she uncovered looks far less like public service and far more like business as usual in Washington’s earmark culture.

During an interview on Fox Business, the Iowa senator laid out what she described as a trail of warning signs that would make any taxpayer wonder how such a proposal ever made it through the process. Ernst explained, “What I uncovered the other day, in one of our spending bills making its way through Congress, was a $1 million earmark from Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.”

Ernst said the real shock came when her office started digging into the organization behind the funding request. “This earmark was supposedly going to a substance abuse clinic, which actually happened to be housed in a restaurant and run by three individuals who share the same residential address, according to their IRS paperwork. Tons of red flags.”

While no formal charges have been brought against the Speaker related to these claims, the accusations have already ignited debate among those who believe Washington too often investigates everyone except itself.

This is not the first time Johnson has faced questions about campaign finances. In 2025, the Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint raising concerns about the use of campaign funds for personal housing expenses. (DC Pundit) – Two men are now behind bars following a tragic hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy in Georgia, once again igniting concerns about public safety, accountability, and immigration enforcement.

The victim was identified by his family as Marcus Anderson, whose life was cut short Sunday evening while riding an electric bike. According to Chatham County Police, Anderson was traveling through the intersection of Ferguson Avenue and Glade Street around 7 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle that never stopped. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities say Olvin Ramos-Ramos and Miguel Reyes-Castro have both been arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction. The two men are currently being held at the Chatham County jail, and notably, both have ICE detainers placed on them. In plain English, federal immigration authorities want them, too.

Detectives moved quickly after the crash, combing through available footage in the surrounding neighborhoods. “We really started focusing on it intently, looking for camera footage from residential cameras, ring cameras, things of that nature, private communities, our flock camera system,” Hadley explained.

That effort paid off. Investigators identified a vehicle of interest and tracked it down to Tybee Island, where both suspects were taken into custody. A memorial honoring Anderson appeared at the intersection on Tuesday — a heartbreaking reminder of a young life lost far too soon.

The Chatham County Police Criminal Investigation Division took the lead on the case because the Georgia State Patrol, which normally handles fatal crashes, was unavailable on Sunday. Despite the quick arrests, authorities say the investigation is far from over.

“We still have a lot of work to do to bring maybe some stronger charges as we go forward, but a lot of hard work went into that in a very short amount of time,” Hadley said.

Police declined to release further details due to the ongoing investigation but praised the Burnside Island community for submitting video evidence that proved critical to the case.

Hadley also issued a warning to parents who purchase e-bikes for their children, stressing safety and responsibility. “These are young kids, 10, 11, riding, going 25, 30 miles and hour. It just takes one car to pull out or a squirrel or something like that, and they could get injured pretty good,” he said.

(DC Pundit) – New York City has delivered yet another head-shaking moment, all thanks to incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani. His latest headline-grabbing move is the appointment of Lillian Bonsignore as commissioner of the New York City Fire Department. While Mamdani is celebrating the identity-politics talking points — Bonsignore will be only the second woman and the first openly gay Fire Commissioner in the city’s history — average New Yorkers seem much more concerned with whether the person running the FDNY actually knows how to fight a fire.

Because here’s the hard truth Mamdani and the media gloss over: Bonsignore has never served as a firefighter. Instead, she spent more than 30 years as an emergency medical technician (EMT), retiring in 2022 as Chief of EMS operations. That’s an impressive career, but conservatives across the country recognize what the left pretends not to see — EMS and firefighting are not the same job.

At the news conference announcing the appointment, Mamdani praised Bonsignore as “a leader who cares about their work because she did it herself.” Did what herself? Operate a firehose or run press conferences about equity?

Bonsignore tried to close that gap, insisting, “I know the job. I know the— what the firefighters need, and I can translate that to this administration, who’s willing to listen.” She went on, “I know what EMS needs. I have been EMS for 30 plus years.” The messaging landed like a dull thud among first responders — many of whom believe leadership should require firsthand experience rushing INTO the burning building, not just treating the victims afterward.

She will replace Mark Guerra, a career FDNY firefighter currently serving as commissioner after Robert S. Tucker resigned — Tucker cited Mamdani’s stance on Israel as one reason for stepping aside.

For conservatives who watched crime soar and antisemitism spike under progressive leadership, the message is clear: the left prioritizes symbolism — identities, narratives, optics — over qualifications, safety, or public trust.

New Yorkers deserve a fire commissioner chosen because he or she carries the battle scars of service — not because City Hall wants to check another demographic box. Whether Bonsignore proves everyone wrong or becomes another cautionary tale of progressive governance gone wrong, one thing is certain: America is watching.

Unable to defeat the nation militarily, he warned, adversaries now aim to weaken it by targeting institutions such as education, media, and faith.
