(DC Pundit) – Rudy Giuliani, one of the most consequential figures in American public life over the past half century, has been hospitalized in Florida and is in critical condition. He is 81 years old.
The news brought deep concern through conservative circles and beyond, as Americans who remember Giuliani’s extraordinary leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks — earning him the title “America’s Mayor” — stopped to reflect on a man who has given so much to this country.
Giuliani’s advisor Ted Goodman addressed the public with a statement asking for prayers: “Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak.” Goodman added, “We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani.”

President Trump, who has known Giuliani for decades, took to Truth Social to express his concern and his deep admiration for his longtime ally. “Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition. What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

It is worth remembering just who Rudy Giuliani is and what he has meant to America. Before he guided New York City through the horror of September 11th with calm, decisive leadership, he was the federal prosecutor who took down the New York mob in the mid- to late 1980s — dismantling organized crime networks that had plagued the city for generations. He later served as one of President Trump’s personal attorneys, fighting battles that cost him dearly in both reputation and finances at the hands of a relentless political left.
This past August, Giuliani was severely injured in a car accident in New Hampshire, where he had been assisting a domestic violence victim at the time.
