(DC Pundit) – The walls are closing in on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and this time it’s not just political chatter. Border Czar Tom Homan appeared on Fox News Sunday and confirmed that Omar is under active investigation for immigration fraud, and that denaturalization and deportation are very much on the table.
“We have denaturalized citizens based on fraud, based on lying on their applications or lying through the process, misrepresenting themselves, or maybe misrepresenting organizations they belong to or beliefs they have,” Homan said.
Homan’s remarks follow a bombshell from Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who confirmed at the RNC National Midterm Convention last week that Omar is under investigation for crimes committed by her and her family. Mullin stated that Omar “married her brother to try to bring him into the United States” and that there is an “ongoing investigation” into the matter.
“Something’s going to happen,” Mullin warned. “If we can prove that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we’ll deport you.”
Homan declined to get into the specifics of Omar’s case, citing the active nature of the probe. “I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening,” he said, confirming that the Department of Homeland Security is marching forward with its investigation.
Q: Can you say though whether the federal government has evidence right now that Congresswoman Omar committed immigration or naturalization fraud?

When pressed on whether denaturalization proceedings were being initiated, Homan made one thing crystal clear: “If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they in fact lied or misrepresent themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them. We’ve done it before, many times over the last 40 years I’ve been around.”

Predictably, Democrats are already warming up their favorite talking point, that the Trump administration is politically motivated. Homan had a simple, devastating response to that: “ICE is enforcing law that Congress wrote!”
Full stop. No gray area there.
Omar has long been a lightning rod for controversy. Allegations of immigration fraud, including claims that she fraudulently entered the U.S. as a member of an unrelated family to obtain asylum, have swirled around her for years. The mainstream media has largely looked the other way, but with both Mullin and Homan now publicly confirming an active investigation, that particular strategy is getting harder to maintain.
For a congresswoman who built her career railing against immigration enforcement, the irony of potentially facing deportation herself is almost too rich. Almost.
