URGENT: CLICK TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE LEFT!
(DC Pundit) – Leave it to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ayanna Pressley to find a racial firestorm where investigators found none. The two progressive congresswomen are making waves on social media by framing recent cases of Black people found hanged as racially motivated murders, despite official findings telling a very different story.
AOC posted on X that “there have already been 10 reported hangings of Black people in the U.S.,” proudly announcing she signed onto Pressley’s letter demanding a federal investigation into what the pair are calling “modern-day lynchings.” Pressley cranked the rhetoric all the way up, declaring, “Black folks are being found hanged in America. This is a national crisis and we CANNOT stand by while strange fruit hangs from trees across the country.”
This year, there have already been 10 reported hangings of Black people in the U.S.
I’m proud to have signed onto @RepPressley ‘s letter to address these widespread modern-day lynchings and put a stop to this racial terror. https://t.co/ISo20mbLyg

We're demanding a federal investigation NOW so we can stop modern-day lynchings. https://t.co/IfiRiYOMNC

Powerful imagery. Explosive language. One problem: the facts don’t cooperate.
Community notes on the posts quickly provided the cold water this dumpster fire needed. Most high-profile cases of Black people found hanging in 2025–26 were ruled suicides by medical examiners and law enforcement, with no evidence of foul play. Cases like Bassinga, Nzita, and Jackson were investigated and closed as suicides. One case, Fortune, remains an active homicide probe, though notably with a Black person of interest, which doesn’t exactly fit the “white supremacist lynching” narrative AOC and Pressley are aggressively peddling.
None of the cases have been confirmed as lynchings or acts of racial terror.
This isn’t the first time progressive lawmakers have rushed to paint America as a nation where white supremacists are stalking Black Americans, remember the Jussie Smollett debacle? That particular episode of “hate crime theater” fooled the same crowd that’s amplifying these posts today.
AOC and Pressley know exactly what they’re doing. Invoking “strange fruit” (a phrase tied to the brutal history of Jim Crow-era lynchings) is a deliberate emotional manipulation designed to bypass reason and stoke racial grievance heading into a politically convenient news cycle. It is deeply irresponsible, and frankly, it dishonors the actual victims by stripping away the truth of what happened to them.
Medical examiners and law enforcement, the people who actually investigate these cases, reached their conclusions based on evidence. Two congresswomen reaching different conclusions is not a counterargument. It’s a performance.
Americans deserve better than lawmakers who exploit tragedy for political theater. The families of these individuals certainly do.
