(DC Pundit) – When you’re under criminal investigation for immigration fraud, most people would at least try to look a little concerned. Not Ilhan Omar. The Minnesota congresswoman responded to the bombshell news with laughter and a string of insults, which, if nothing else, is certainly one way to handle it.
LindellTV’s Allison Steinberg cornered Omar in a House office building this week and asked point blank: “Tom Homan said that you’re under criminal investigation for immigration marriage fraud. Any comment on that?”
Omar’s response? She laughed, then said, “No, I don’t have a comment for that.”
When Steinberg pressed further and asked whether Omar had married her brother, the congresswoman shifted gears fast. “What a ridiculous thing to ask,” she snapped. “Did you marry your brother?” She then called the allegation “disgusting.”
Asked directly why she is being criminally investigated, Omar flatly denied it. “I am not,” she said, going on to call Border Czar Tom Homan a liar. “He is. He’s been saying some dumb sh*t, like you,” Omar told Steinberg.

Charming as ever.
Here’s the problem with Omar’s casual dismissal, the allegations aren’t coming from some random political opponent on social media. They’re coming from the top levels of the Trump administration, and the statements have been remarkably consistent.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed last Friday that Omar “married her brother to try to bring him into the United States” and that there is an “ongoing investigation” into the matter. Mullin didn’t mince words: “Something’s going to happen. If we can prove that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we’ll deport you.”
Then on Sunday, Homan himself confirmed an “ongoing criminal investigation,” and made clear that the tools exist to act on it. “If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they in fact lied or misrepresent themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them. We’ve done it before, many times over the last 40 years I’ve been around,” Homan said.
So we have the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Border Czar both independently confirming an active criminal investigation, and Omar’s rebuttal is to laugh and hurl insults at a reporter. That’s not the behavior of someone with nothing to hide. That’s the behavior of someone who has spent years counting on the media to look the other way and is now realizing that strategy has an expiration date.
The left will rally around her, the mainstream media will do its best to bury the story, and Democrats will scream about political persecution. But the investigation is real, the officials are on record, and the clock is ticking.
